Remembering Mary on her 21 St. Birthday
Feb. 3 ,2006
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEET MARY
We thought of Mary today,
but that is nothing new.
We thought of Mary yesterday,
and will tomorrow too.
For what it meant to lose a our niece,
no one will never truly know.
Remembering Mary will be easy,
She was such a special joy each day.
But we will remember her smiling face as well,
which we  know will never go away.
Missing her never ends,
But it changes. Its a passage,
Not a place to stay.
The sense of loss Must give way,
If we're to value The life that was lived.
missing her is not a sign of weakness,
Nor a lack of faith,
It is the price of love

To God, I'm Thankfull
I’m thankful for each strand of hair
            That grows upon my head
I’m thankful for the clothes I wear
And for a nice warm bed.
I’m thankful for the caring friends
Who make me feel so glad
            I’m thankful for a doctor’s care
            When I am feeling bad.
            I’m thankful for my family
Who cheer me when I’m blue
            I’m thankful for the U.S.A.
            And for our soldiers too.
I’m thankful for the gentle rains
            That fall upon the earth
I’m thankful for the life it brings
            And for a baby’s birth.
I’m thankful for a sky of red
            In early morning light
I’m thankful for the setting sun
And for the stars at night.
I’m thankful for a place to pray
And for the books I read
I’m thankful for a loving God
            Who meets my every need.

Where Peace Flows Like a River

              Together we will journey
To that land up in the sky
Where the flame does burn eternal
And the soul does never die.
Where the harps are gently playing
As a host of angels sing
Where the road is paved with diamonds
And the golden bells do ring.
Where the path is set before us
              Shining brightly as the sun
We will see the face of Jesus
When our final race is run.
Where the peace flows like a river
Winding through the streets of gold
We will dine with priests and prophets
When the key to life, we hold.
Where the flame does burn eternal
              In that sacred Promised Land
Where God holds the gift of freedom
In the cleft of His right hand.
Where we'll see the face of loved ones
              Long before us, gone away
What a day of sweet rejoicing
              When we meet again someday.
Where we'll gather at the river
In our home up in the sky
Where the peace flows like a fountain
And the soul does never die.

            Journey to Heaven
I am going on a journey
To a place I long to go
A land that’s filled with angels
               Where the peaceful valleys flow.
I have no need for luggage
So I plan to travel light
               A first-class trip to heaven
               It’s a non-returning flight.

There won’t be tears of sadness
               Sweet blessings I will reap
               A torch will burn eternal
And the soul doth never sleep.
I do not need an auto
There is no bus or train
               My journey is predestined
And I won’t be back again.
No need for food or shelter
               Everything I need is there
My home that lies in heaven
               Is a joy beyond compare.
I am ready for my venture
Got the voucher in my hand
               I’m bound for Zion glory
               In that far-off distant land.
I am headed for that City
My flight was paid for me
To a land of peace and beauty
               Just beyond the crystal sea.
I soon will have my ticket
There is no need to pack
On a one-way trip to heaven
And I won’t be coming back.

Pathway to Paradise
There is a path along the river
               Waiting just inside the gate
It flows with milk and honey
And is sure to seal your fate.
The way is straight and narrow
And few do heed its call
               It quietly beckons to us
               Just inside the garden wall.
               The journey isn’t easy
               When we follow wayward friends
               For all the worldly pleasure
Will cause our lives to end.
It isn’t found in neon lights
Nor where the wine does flow
The road to hell is paved so well
               A way, you mustn’t go.
You want to know the secret
You'd like to find the way
               The path along the river
Can be there for you today.
Go to the Lord in prayer
               He'll hear your humble call
               The gate will slowly open
               Just inside the garden wall.
The truth is found in scripture
The dead in Christ shall rise
The way will come before you
               When you seek for paradise.
Just reach out to the Father
He will take you by the hand
               And together you will journey
               To the sacred promised land.

Whispers from Heaven
They say that life is fleeting
I know that this is true
I left this world so quickly
               With no goodbye to you.
I know how much you miss me
               Your tears fall ever light
The pillow where you lay your head
Is wet with them at night.
I know your heart is hurting
               The words we left, unsaid
               I love you’s, left unspoken
               Are spinning in your head.
The strength that I have carried
That served to make you whole
               Remains to make you stronger
               Within your grieving soul.
For you see, while you were weeping
On the day I passed away
At the gravesite near the flowers
Where my loved ones knelt to pray.
An angel came to see me
She took me by the hand
She led me to a kingdom
               In a very distant land.
As I look down from heaven
               And see you standing there
               Your heart so ever burdened
With more grief than it can bear.
I long to bring you comfort
I long to give you peace
I long to hold you closely
Cause all your tears to cease.

The joy I’ve found in heaven
               Goes far beyond compare
               The love that’s so elusive
               Can be found here everywhere.
               The light is softly shining
There’s no storm clouds here or rain
There’s no teardrops found in heaven
There’s no suffering, there’s no pain.
               You needn’t be so troubled
Stay close to God and pray
               That someday we’ll be together
               One bright and glorious day.
So my love, you shouldn’t question
My dear you need not cry
I’ve gone to be with Jesus
               I really didn’t die.

The Hand of God

May the new day bring you blessings
As the light comes filtering through
May your sunrise be as lovely
As a morning draped in dew.
May the wind blow forth a promise
             Sending sweet bouquets your way
May life seem a little brighter
As you rise to greet the day.
             May the daybreak render pleasure
As the birds begin to sing
May the distant roll of thunder
Bring forth a touch of spring.
May the mist embrace the silence
Like a fire fly in the night
May an angel walk beside you
To hold you in the light.
May the rain caress your body
And life drops flood your soul
May His Spirit come upon you
To cleanse and make you whole.
May the showers come so gently
             Running gently through your hair
May you touch the living water
And know that He is there.
May the freshness bring you new life
             Pushing through the tender sod
May you pause to pick a flower
And touch the hand of God.

This Side of Heaven
We're on this side of heaven
But we won't be here too long
               Passing like a summer breeze
In the lyrics of a song.
T'will be over before we know it
               The years are slipping away
The days of youth have passed us by
               Now part of yesterday.
The hands of time keep ticking on
               Time has no sympathy
               It never stopped for Jesus
It won't stop for you and me.
We do not know the hour in which
Our Master will call us away
To another dimension unknown to us
To live with Him one day.
               Eternity awaits for us
But the gate's not very wide
Only a few will get to pass through
To live on the other side.
Now is the time to know Jesus
We must turn away from our sin
Cause we haven't made it to heaven yet
And Satan waits to take us in
.

November Winds
November winds blow harshly
            Across the frozen ground
            Preparing for December snows
            That soon will come around.
The trees stand barren against the sky
            Stripped by autumn's chill
November stands so tall and cool
            Her hours pass so still.
Crispy mornings, frost filled nights
            The winter sun hangs low
The blue bird sings in quieter tones
            As bitter north winds blow.
Blow if you must November winds
            And let your fury swirl
Spread your arms out far and wide
            Let nature's wrath unfurl.
Just because the earth is bare and gray
            You needn't be so glum
You've chilled the air for winter wear
            And snow will surely come.

A Story to Tell
Each wrinkle pressed upon his brow
Has a story of its own to tell
The pinstriped suits that he always wore
Were from Sears and Roebuck, 1904.
The Model A Ford which he drove now and then
Was the envy of all back in 1910
World War I was bad and it left its place
Crippling his legs and slowing his pace.
See his knuckles so callused and hard
His heart was gentle but his life was scarred
And see the sadness in his eyes
That's what happens when true love dies.
Each moment lived, he remembers so well
Yes folks, he has quite a story to tell
In his pinstriped suit and no one to care
He quietly passed on, in an answer to prayer.

Yesterday's Years
Today, I ventured to take a stroll
            Down the road of yesteryear
To relive some memories in time
And see the folks I once held dear.
Back into the folds of my hometown
That I left so long ago
Back to a treasured place in my heart
And the life I used to know.
Oh, but the years have left their mark
On the pieces of memory lane
The man next door is bent and old
And is limping with his cane.
My home that once stood up so proud
            Is blistered, cracked and gray
Why, oh why, must time play tricks
            With the things of yesterday.
I pull some weeds and I place a rose
As I kneel by Dad's tombstone
Longing to see the familiar streets
Of the town I once called home.
Realizing I can never go back
Through the gardens of laughter and tears
The new seeds I've sown in the course of my life
            Have mellowed out yesterday's years.
